What
is EchoLink?
Echolink is software
that allows amateur operators around the world to talk to each other via
the internet. The technology used is called VoIP or Voice
over IP. It will work on internet access speeds as low as
that provided by a dial-up analog line. All you need is a windows
computer, sound card, microphone and speakers.
Hams can talk computer to computer, computer to
repeater, or repeater to repeater. If you haven't tried it what
are you waiting for?
On June 28th, 2002 the Echo Link Interface was
implemented on the KH6JPL repeater. This page is dedicated to all the
hams who have gotten involved as we tweaked the system. Tweaking
continues as we learn more and more about this technology.
This Echo Link pages are designed to help you understand the
technology and its benefits and to share some of the experiences and
challenges we've had during implementation.
