Harley Davidson Road King Custom - Glacier White Pearl - Looks great in the sun as you can see the pearl flakes (if you can call it that).  Didn't realize how nice that color was till I took the bike home.  The show room lights doesn't bring out the true essence of its color. [ Top ]

What attracted me the most to this particular model is its low profile, having a distinctive dip in the riders seat.  Not to mention that it fits me nicely as I'm not that tall. Next it was the handle bars.  They call them "beach cruisers" as they are lower than then traditional, in height and are pulled back a little.  The Chrome Wind Deflector is a nice touch. [ Top ]

The floor boards, break pedal and rear pegs are already custom.  All I need are the shifter pegs and the handle grips.

Ah... that saddle bags. I don't need to ride with a back pack on... unless I need more space  They are hard bags with leather covers.  The latches aren't keyed but you can get that option for about $80.00. [ Top ]

The EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection)  system makes it very easy to start and warm up before your ride.  Like the new cars you don't adjust any choke lever and you don't give it 2 squirts of gas.  Simply turn it on,  click it to run and hit the starter.  Their's no fuel shut off valve either.  Here's how EFI works

How does the fuel injector setup differ from a carburetor? - First off you'll find that the idle of a fuel injected bike will be set higher than that of a carbureted bike.  Since the idle is higher you won't be able to get that Harley heart beat as pronounced.  Will I miss it? No.   The mileage is better with the fuel injector. [ Top ]

Reinhart Pipes - Not really sure if I'll like them,  let you know later.   May be I'll miss that LOW rumble of the two into one thunder headers that I had on the Fat Boy.  Check back later and I'll let you know my final feedback. [ Top ]

Feb 3, 2006 - The Reinhart pipes are on and it sounds great.  Ron Henderson, Bill Peiler took a run to Waianae.  The new CAMs also gave some quick take offs and puts the beat back in the Harley.  You can feel the increase in power blowing out of the exhaust with a low popping sound. (video coming). [ Top ]

LED Gas Cap - One of the coolest options I have installed on the bike. The blue LEDs glow nicely at night and now I need to worry about possibly being stopped by HPD.  I had to go to South Seas Cycles and ask them to see the service manual for the speedometer console just to be sure that I was addressing the right connector.  Actually,  once you determine how pins each connector under the console has, it was easy.  Three wires were a direct replacement, pin for pin, from the old to the new LED gas cap.  The remaining gray wire had to be routed over the front of the gas tank and under the speedometer console.  [ Top ]

Locking Latch on Saddle Bags - This option was an easy install but be careful to extend the cable adjustment to its maximum length (outward) before you first close the cover.  If you don't do this, you won't be able to open the saddle back via the lock button. You'll need to remove the center pin of the hinges using a hammer and a small punch.  [ Top ]

Head Light Modulator - It is a documented fact that a very common problem with on coming vehicles the fact that they don't see the motorcycle coming.  The most common vehicle accident is the on-coming vehicle making a left run into the path of a motorcycle rider.  It is for that reason that I had purchased the head light modulator by Kriss.  It modulates your high beam to make you more visible to oncoming vehicles during the ay. It automatically turns off during the night (illegal) or can be turned off manually by simply switching to low beam.  It is legal in all 50 states. [ Top ]
